Junior Syndication Analyst

Build the deals. Structure the credit. Place the capital. Your foundation for a career in commercial finance.

The Opportunity

First National Capital is seeking a Junior Syndication Analyst to join our Credit and Capital Markets team. This is an exceptional training ground for recent graduates or early-career professionals who are analytically sharp and want to learn commercial equipment finance transactions—from deal structuring to credit underwriting to syndication placement to closing.

You’ll assist in the evaluation of multi-million-dollar lease and loan transactions for middle-market and Fortune 1000 companies, support senior team members in preparing investment memorandums for institutional funding partners, learn how to structure deals that mitigate risk and maximize returns, and work directly with banks, debt funds, and strategic investors to facilitate the placement of capital.

If you have strong financial modeling skills, credit analysis experience, and a hunger to work on larger, more complex deals in a fast-growing environment, this is your opportunity to build a career in commercial finance and capital markets.

What You'll Do

Credit Analysis & Deal Structuring

  • Evaluate complex commercial lease and loan transactions for middle-market and Fortune 1000 entities.
  • Conduct comprehensive credit and collateral analysis, identifying risk factors and mitigation strategies.
  • Build financial models to assess creditworthiness, cash flow coverage, collateral values, and deal economics.
  • Utilize financial structuring techniques to develop alternative structures requiring credit enhancements.
  • Analyze customer financial information periodically to proactively identify negative trends and mitigate credit risk.

   Syndication & Capital Placement

  • Prepare detailed credit analyses, investment memorandums, and transaction presentations for funding partners, strategic investors, and the internal Investment Committee.
  • Interface with institutional funding partners (banks, debt funds, CLOs, securitization vehicles) to answer credit, collateral, and transaction-related questions.
  • Negotiate pricing, terms, and conditions with funding partners and strategic investors to facilitate transaction placement.
  • Research and identify new debt participants and capital sources for transaction syndication.
  • Support the placement of transactions through non-committed capital facilities, pledge lines, and syndicated structures.

   Documentation & Transaction Management

  • Negotiate transaction documentation with clients, funding partners, and strategic investors as required.
  • Initiate and perform activities within the documentation process to ensure seamless execution for customers and equipment vendors.
  • Collaborate with internal teams (sales, operations, accounting, legal) to drive deals from approval to funding.
  • Ensure accurate and timely closing of transactions while maintaining high service standards.

   Investment Committee Presentations

  • Prepare approval recommendations and present to the FNC Investment Committee for transactions being considered internally.
  • Articulate deal structure, credit rationale, risk assessment, and expected returns.
  • Respond to Investment Committee questions and refine structures based on feedback.

   Client & Partner Relationship Management

  • Consult with customers to assess financial needs, facilitate additional financing opportunities, and resolve service inquiries.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with external funding partners, strategic investors, and internal stakeholders.
  • Ensure customers receive exceptional service and are completely satisfied with the financing experience.

What You'll Bring

  • 0-2 years of commercial credit, leasing, banking, or structured finance experience with middle-market or corporate clients, recent college graduates welcome. We will value intellectual curiosity and work ethic over experience.
  • Strong financial modeling skills—you will need to learn to summarize multiple periods into a financial spreadsheet, run complex cash flow analyses, and understand deal economics.
  • Credit underwriting expertise—you will have to be comfortable tearing apart a financial report and footnotes to analyze financial statements, assess risk, and structure transactions.
  • Equipment leasing or asset-based lending and Syndication or capital markets experience or coursework is a strong plus (CLOs, ABL, securitizations, pledge facilities, debt placement).

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field (MBA, MSF, or CFA progress is a plus), with strong academic performance (3.0+ GPA preferred).
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills—you will be asked to explain credit concepts to internal teams, clients, and institutional partners.
  • Proficiency in Excel and financial analysis software; experience with Claude.ai or a similar interactive AI chatbot platform is a plus.
  • Sound judgment, attention to detail, and a solutions-oriented mindset.
